Send your child to Elson Junior School

Come and Join us!

At Elson Junior School our school values of adaptability, integrity, compassion, creativity and aspiration drive all that we do and our pupils are at the centre of each and every decision we make. Simply put, our children come first.

We hope that our website gives you a good idea about life here; what is important to us and how wonderful our children are. We are also active on social media and this will give you a good insight into what you and your child can expect when you decide to become members of ‘Team Elson’. Do check out the links on our Home Page.

Of course, the most important people for you to hear from would be our parents so do also look at our parent testimonials – they know us best! Our parent survey from July 2020 had so many comments praising our wonderful team here at EJS …

“Definitely will recommend this school my daughter is always happy, always learning new things and you have an amazing staff. The kids are really good and well behaved children, the parents are friendly. That is my expectation – my child to be happy and to feel confident at school.”

“Elson Junior School have gone above and beyond to support not only the children but parents as well. I’m proud of our junior school.”

“Good support through COVID-19 home schooling, although it’s been tricky some days with concentration, I’m glad work was sent home unlike other schools within the area. Great teacher communication.”

“I think the school has a very strong Senior Management Team and they have definitely made changes for the better.”

“So many reasons. They have truly accommodated every need our child has, listened to our concerns, made changes in regards to our concerns, been friendly, approachable, helpful, kind and about all just the best school EVER! Thank you EJS.”

Additionally, 100% of our last cohort of Year 6 parents would recommend us to other parents, 100% of parents said their child had felt safe here and 100% of parents said their child had done well here – all facts we are very, very proud of.

We also recognise that things don’t always go according to plan! We were very pleased that 97% of our parents in the recent survey agreed that when they have raised concerns with the school they have been dealt with properly or they have had no reason for concerns.

We truly prioritise the emotional and mental wellbeing of our pupils. We have a wonderful team of teaching and support staff who go the extra mile to support children during the difficult times that life throws at us. Our dedicated Home School Link worker, Mrs Hull, works tirelessly for our most vulnerable pupils and also provides support for teaching staff in delivering lessons that deal with emotional and social issues. Our parents were very complimentary of Mrs Hull’s support in our survey.

“ … the support Mrs Hull offered was fantastic and made my children feel reassured and valued.”

“Mrs Hull has been so amazing during this pandemic, sorting out books, craft materials and the like for my child. The phone calls and texts from Mrs Hull to see how we are all doing have been a huge mental support for me.”

“Mrs Hull has been absolutely amazing and is a credit to the school.”

The next step for you will be to visit us and you can be sure of a very warm welcome. One of our recent visitors (in September 2020) was our Hampshire School Inspector who commented that there was a wonderful warm feel and she was impressed with how settled and calm our children were. In the current circumstances, we are having to restrict actual visits to our school. However, we will be providing a virtual tour film soon on our website and our Senior Team are very happy to meet with you by telephone and take you on a virtual tour of the school.

Please make contact with our school office and they will make an appointment for you for one of our Senior Team to call you, either with or without your child in the first instance. Team Elson is ready and waiting for your child and you!
