Celebrations and Rewards

Celebrations and Rewards

Our Elson values drive all that we do. Our children receive weekly lessons and assemblies that address our school values and discuss the learning and personal behaviours that we expect to see when our Elson values are in action.

There are several ways that your child will be rewarded for showing our Elson values.

Team Points

Each child is in a school team and they receive team points for effort, attainment and showing our Elson values in many ways with politeness, good manners and compassion for others. At the end of each half-term, the points are calculated and the team with the most points is recognised through the award of the Team Points Trophy. Our children love to earn team points for themselves and for their whole team!

Headteacher Awards

Good learning due to extra effort, resilience and attainment can be rewarded with a Headteacher award. Your child will visit the Senior Leadership Team office to share their work with Mrs Shaw or Mrs Taylor and they will receive a special certificate. They will also bring home a copy of the piece of work that they have shared. This is a super reward that the Senior Leadership team especially enjoy giving to our children – it makes us very proud!

Postcards Home

Postcards are sent home by class teachers or the Senior Leadership Team to children who go above and beyond to show our Elson values with excellent learning, superb effort and extra kindness to others. These may be addressed to you as parents/carers or to your child. Our parents often comment on how pleased and excited their child is to receive a postcard home and all of our staff love to send them.

Half-termly Values Trophies

Each half-term children are nominated by their class teachers for showing a consistent positive approach to showing our Elson values through their attitude to learning and their personal behaviour. The Senior Leadership then choose one child from lower school (Y3 & 4) and upper school (Year 5 & 6) and they receive a special trophy that they can take care of at home for the half-term. All pupils who have had a nomination are celebrated through a special breakfast where parents/carers are invited to attend with their nominated child. This is always a very special celebration and the children and families are always delighted to attend. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions these breakfasts have unfortunately had to be put on hold and so for now we will send a postcard home to let you know about the nomination.
