At Elson, Art allows the children to have opportunities for self-expression, harbour an engagement and excitement for the skills acquired and be inspired by artists from around the world. It is a subject that is accessible to all and boosts confidence by allowing self-reflection and learning from mistakes; teaching the children critical thinking. 

The curriculum aims to develop creativity by progressively developing a range of artistic skills. In addition, content, vocabulary and concepts are returned to often to secure understanding, as well as allow the children to make links with prior learning and other subjects.
