Behaviour at Elson Junior School
At Elson Junior School, we have high expectations of behaviour so that every child can learn in a calm, safe and supportive environment. Our approach is built around our core values of Aspiration, Integrity, Compassion, Adaptability and Creativity, which guide how we treat one another and how we approach our learning.
We are clear and consistent in our expectations. Our simple school rules – Ready to Learn, Respectful to All, Safe at All Times – help children understand what positive behaviour looks like both in and out of the classroom. These expectations are supported by clear routines, consistent rewards and fair consequences, so that everyone knows what is expected.
We believe that children learn best when they feel supported and understood. Alongside high standards, we take a positive and restorative approach to promoting good behaviour in school, helping children reflect on their choices, understand the impact of their actions and make better decisions in the future. Staff work closely with families to support behaviour and additional help is available where needed.
Good behaviour is recognised and celebrated. We encourage all children to take responsibility, show respect and strive to be their best every day. By working together as a school community, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and able to succeed.
