At Elson Junior School we truly value the benefits of music.   The Department for Education state ...

'Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. '

We absolutely agree!  Our children have regular music lessons as part of our curriculum provision and we offer peripatetic music lessons after school.  We have an experienced music and drama teacher who teaches across the school and also manages our school choir and offers an after school drama club.  In addition to this, a specialist music teacher from the Hampshire Music Service visits once a week to teach a whole year group.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, our after school music provision has been halted along with our school choir.  We look forward to a time when we can sing again!

Year 6 Ukulele

This term, our Y6 pupils are having some rather special music lessons and are learning to play the ukulele.  The children thoroughly enjoy these lessons that are taught by a specialist music teacher from the Hampshire Music Service.
