RE
At Elson Junior School, the RE curriculum enables children to explore different world religions whilst developing a confidence in their own beliefs. In doing so we hope it not only promotes the value of kindness as a core principle to all religions but also encourages respect and tolerance for those who have views which are different to their own. We hope all children, irrespective of their own faith, take away from the lessons that being kind to others is a highly regarded value.
We currently learn about Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism. RE lessons often include circle time, critical thinking, drama, art and visits to places of worship. Our RE helps us to learn about diversity in the UK and around the world
Pupils are given opportunities to think about what different faiths teach us all about being right or wrong – or successful and unsuccessful. They will also consider what those religions teach us about becoming a helpful citizen and about the importance of being concerning of everyone around us.
