Mathematics
Mathematics is taught every day at Elson Junior School using Hampshire Schemes of Learning (HSoL). This is a spiral approach meaning content is revisited regularly throughout the year, and foundations are built upon. We retrieve our learning daily through the use of retrieval grids, meaning skills are practiced regularly.
We use Times Table Rock Stars to practice our times table facts and times table facts are taught using the discover, teach, practice, apply approach. This means children explore the times tables before they are asked to recall the facts.
